WELCOMING AFGHAN FAMILIES TO WA

SUPPORTING NEWLY ARRIVING FAMILIES

The United States is evacuating thousands of Afghan families who are in danger following the Taliban takeover – and we’re welcoming many to Washington state. Supporting newcomers is who we are as a community. To ensure newly arriving families can resettle safely and successfully start new lives, they urgently need our support.

Many of these families risked their lives and family’s safety to support U.S. troops and the U.S. mission in Afghanistan. Now it’s our turn to help them.

Community-based organizations and resettlement agencies have been working to ensure that families are supported with basic needs like housing, food, furniture, healthcare, education, and legal aid. Their top priority is making sure families have basic needs met in a way that is efficient, effective, culturally competent, religiously sensitive, and language appropriate.

Your support of Afghan families today will make a lasting impact for generations. We each have a role in helping Afghan families access the resources and support they need to thrive, so we’ve provided a number of ways to contribute below.
